Born and raised in South Central, LA,
Official candidate statement:
I was born and raised in South Central, Los Angeles. I attended local inner city schools before attending college at the University of Southern California and later attended law school at UC Berkeley. I have practiced civil litigation at the best law firms in the country, with my primary criminal litigation experience being in the Los Angeles County Deputy Public Defenders office. My volunteer legal experience includes the Berkeley Community Law Center and the ACLU. I have served as a temporary judge for five years and have won several awards for my community service efforts. All this to say, I have worked tirelessly for decades in the pursuit of upholding our justice system, and I can confidently say that I am ready for the next phase of my purpose.
We are living in divisive times, where our political institutions are under assault and people are losing faith in our ability to govern ourselves. Judges can play a large role in restoring public confidence in our governmental institutions. As a Judge, I will demonstrate, through the proper application of the law, that positive change can take place without violence, anger, or enmity. Once individuals see that their judicial institutions can perform efficiently, ethically, morally and without rancor, I believe that would go a long way towards restoring public faith and trust in our government institutions; tamping down the vitriol in our current public discourse.
